However they are publishing it when they fill out surveys or contests and leave their phone number on the card. These types of gimmicks are used to compile personal information so that they can later be sold to telemarketers who will later on call you.

2. Online Sites: Believe it or not when you leave your cell phone number online; then you are placing it out for the public to get a hold of so that they can begin using your cell phone or grab your personal information if they choose.

3. Do Not Call Registry: You may currently have your personal land line registered with the Do Not Call Registry; well you should take your time to register your cell phone as well. This is a great way to prevent telemarketers not to call you. Once you register you phone number then telemarketers have 31 days from the date that you register to stop calling you.
